SiftWatch ("we", "us", "our") operates the website siftwatch.com. This page explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Account Data

When you sign up via Google OAuth, we receive and store your email address, display name, and profile picture. We use Supabase for authentication and data storage.

Profile Preferences

You may optionally provide your preferred language, interests, expertise level, content strictness, and summary format. These are used to personalize your analysis results.

Playlist & Video Data

When you submit a YouTube playlist for analysis, we fetch publicly available metadata (titles, descriptions, thumbnails, view counts, durations) via the YouTube Data API. We store this metadata alongside our AI-generated analysis results (classifications, summaries, scores, timestamps).

Payment Data

Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh). We store your Polar customer ID and subscription ID. We do not store credit card numbers or payment details directly. All payment processing is handled by Polar.

Usage & Analytics

We track usage metrics (playlists analyzed, credits used) for enforcing plan limits. We use PostHog for product analytics, which collects page views, button clicks, and feature usage. PostHog may use cookies and localStorage for session tracking.

Rate Limiting

For anonymous users, we log IP addresses temporarily to enforce rate limits. These logs are not retained long-term or used for identification.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To manage your account, subscription, and credits
  • To enforce plan limits and prevent abuse
  • To improve the product through analytics
  • To communicate important account-related information

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that process your data:

  • Supabase — Authentication and database hosting
  • Google (YouTube Data API, Gemini AI) — Video metadata and AI analysis
  • Polar — Payment processing and subscriptions
  • PostHog — Product analytics
  • Vercel — Application hosting
  • Upstash — Rate limiting
  • Inngest — Background job processing

4. Data Retention

  • Free tier: Analysis results are automatically deleted after 7 days
  • Paid tiers: Analysis results are retained indefinitely while your subscription is active
  • Account deletion: When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of analytics tracking by disabling cookies

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. PostHog uses analytics cookies to understand product usage. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, row-level security in our database, and secure authentication via OAuth 2.0. Payment data is handled entirely by Polar and never touches our servers.

8. Children

SiftWatch is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or a notice on the website.
